SEND/Inclusion and Pupil Premium

At Silverdale St John’s  we have high expectations of every child and encourage them to be the best they can be, to work hard, to love learning and to be emotionally engaged with the world around them. We teach a creative, inclusive and engaging curriculum which enables all children to do this. We are very proud of our partnership with Bleasdale School whom we work with closely each week.

SEND

Children with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) are highly valued and respected at Silverdale St John’s  and are supported by dedicated, skilled and motivated teachers and support staff. The whole school works hard to ensure that children’s individual barriers to learning are identified, addressed and monitored so that every child makes progress both academically and emotionally.  Sarah Sanderson is our SEND Co-ordinator and organises regular reviews with parents to review provision for the children. She can be contacted on head@silverdale.lancs.sch.uk

We have support from Lancashire County Council for all SEND children. Please us the website address below to see what they can offer.

Pupil Premium

Silverdale St John’s CE Primary School, in common with all other schools, receives its funding from the Government via Lancashire Local Authority.
One element of this funding is called the PUPIL PREMIUM. The amount of this additional funding varies from school to school and is dependent on 3 factors: the number of children in school who are in the care of the local authority, the number who have an entitlement to a free school meal and the number who have a parent(s) in the armed forces.
At Silverdale St John’s School, the money is used to support children academically and socially and to ensure that financial circumstances are not a barrier to an engaging curriculum.

Our Pupil Premium grant is spent directly to benefit those children who it supports. This can include:

  • Providing small group work with an experienced teaching assistant, focused on overcoming gaps in learning, nurture support or simply time to reflect.
  • 1:1 support in class
  • Acquiring effective materials aimed at raising standards, particularly in reading and mathematics.
  • Additional teaching and learning opportunities outside the classroom such as funding for school trips and residential visits.

Please see policies and other relevant inclusion documents in OUR SCHOOLS – POLICIES.
